Finns det någon studie om varför många ME-patienter blir sämre efter fysisk ansträngning och vad detta beror på ?

Att man blir sämre vet man ju, men vad beror det på är det samma orsak hos alla eller kan det bero på flera olika orskaer hos olika ME-patienter ?

Michael Maes i Belgien och Frank Twisk i Holland har skrivit en artikel där de gjort en genomgång av kunskapsläget kring kognitiv beteendeterapi och gradvis träning vid ME och de kom fram till att dessa behandlingar var ineffektiva, icke-evidensbaserade och potentiellt farliga.

I Belgien finns ME/CFS center som fortsätter med kognitiv beteende terapi och gradvis ökad träning trots att deras regering konstaterat att dessa behadnlingar inte har effekt. Fallstudier av patienter har påvisat inflammatorisk -, oxidativ - och nitrös (peroxynitrit) stress. Man har påvisat intracellulär inflammation, ökad förflyttning av gramnegativa enterobakterier (läckande tarm), autoimmuna reaktioner och skador av oxidativ - och nitrös stress.

Written questionnaires revealed that within 24 hours of the test, 85% of controls indicated full recovery, in contrast to 0 CFS patients. The remaining 15% of controls recovered within 48 hours of the test. In contrast, only 1 CFS patient recovered within 48 hours.

En studie som konfirmerar att personer med ME har en syreupptagningsförmåga som minskar vid ett upprepat motionstest med syreupptagningsmätning (cardiopulmonary exercise test, CPET). Denna studie är gjord av ett annat forskarlag än tidigare studier som gjorts av Christopher Snell, Staci Stevens, Mark Van Ness med flera.
