CitatDr. Leonard Jason Dr Leonard Jason has kindly submitted a paper examining differences between blood and non-blood relatives in five illnesses, including ME/CFS. The findings show genetic and environmental factors are associated with ME/CFS. Research into diagnosing and treating ME/CFS needs to ensure that proper sub groups are being used.Dr Martin LernerIn his Letter from America Dr Martin Lerner addresses concerns among ME/CFS physicians endeavouring to help patients.Dr. Bruce CarruthersDr Bruce Carruthers has provided a very thought provoking and thorough insight into the way researchers and clinicians should work.
CitatUCSF's Joe DeRisi, PhD, is one of the creators of "microarray" technology now deployed in labs throughout the world. DeRisi and UCSF virologist Don Ganem used microarray technology to detect the SARS virus within 24 hours of receiving a sample from the CDC, and they quickly classified and genetically defined it. The researchers have developed and regularly update the ViroChip, a microarray containing DNA from every known virus. The ViroChip has proved to be a valuable experimental diagnostic tool in cases where serious infections stump experts.
CitatDr. Baraniuk: It was mind boggling because we ended up with about 10 proteins that were present only in our CFS group and not present in the control group. The odds of this are about 10 to the minus 15.
